I've never had such a joyous celebration of our Lord's promised coming as I did in India in 2004, at the Christian Fellowship of India boys orphanage. (it was the same Christmas that the tragic and deadly tsunami hit Southern India...we were unaware)
After worship, each boy received the same bag of gifts; a new shirt, sewn by the local Tailor, Daniel, a new handkerchief, a new towel for washing, some candy, a little toy and FIRECRACKERS!!!! I finally knew where the term, "wild little Indians" came from!!!!
They all changed into their new shirts and then the dancing commenced! I've never danced so hard in my life!!! Those little boys had more energy then all of us combined!
It was a party!!!
A party to welcome the King of Kings!
Of course India is not considered a "Christian" nation (but Christmas is a national holiday!), and not everyone celebrates the birth of our Savior, but all were joyous for our celebration!!! These two ladies were gathering cotton on Christmas morning.
They worked from sun-up to sun-set.
The boys and the matron who cared for my every need, created some gorgeous chalk dust art!!!
I challenge each of us to break out in joyous celebration this Christmas!!! Dance before the King. Come before him with joyful singing!! Know that The Lord is God. It is He who has made us. Let us come and rejoice!!!! Come let us adore Him!!!
