Over a decade and a half of loving my retiring Bible; keeping it's Words close to my heart during the droughts and famines, the joys and laughter of my life, I've made the choice to buy a new Bible with the sole intention of documenting my walk of faith with ART.
My old Bible will always be my go to for a quick find.....because it's like an old friend; I know every wrinkle, every smile line, every wink. Those God winks are worn and thin.....too thin for anymore documenting. Some Words are even missing.....but it's ok, cause I know them by heart.
I've joined the Documented Faith group on FB, a place to share and encourage one another in our Faith. I decided to combine my DLP 2016 Unplanner...keeping it all in one sweet place. Heaven knows, I'm challenged in the organization department, so it's best this way!!!
Creative lettering isn't one of my gifts....so I'm not going to really stress about that part....I'm just going to reflect upon the TRUTH and let it seep into my flesh.
Stephanie Ackerman is one of the dearest souls I have "met". She seeps with the love of Jesus. She suggest "practicing" on the first pages of your journaling Bible....so I did. Once I realized I could use watercolor....well, I totally relaxed and just did what I'd do when I create my cards!!! Fun stuff!!!!
Opening this new Bible felt strangely uncomfortable. It felt too new. Too clean. Too unfamiliar.
So, I decided to put handcrafted tabs on it. This is the first time in my 44 years of walking side by side with Jesus that I have put in "cheater" tabs! At my age....well, I'm not sure I have time to break this babe in any other way....so "cheater" tabs it is!!!!
I do LOVE them!!!!
I used scrapbook paper (3 different patterns for the OT and 3 different for the NT), cut 1/2" strips then just randomly cut the strips into tabs....no stressing on perfect....it's not in my DNA!!! Then I used 3/4" WASHI tape....oh don't you just LOVE washi tape!!!! My jar has filled up mysteriously!!!! I used an opaque washi tape so that the pattern of the scrapbook paper showed through just enough to give visual interest, then I used some blackboard sticker tape I had and cut into small strips that I wrote on with a White Gelly Roll Pen.
Oh what fun.....but it took me HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS!!!!
I left the NT for another day.....39 books in the OT was a good days work! Phew!!!
Now, that all that business is taken care of I can get on with Documenting my Faith in 2016!
It's going to be an awesome year!!! We are expecting The Lord to do AMAZING things...not just in us but for us!!!
